Why should I care about the anti-sexual violence movement?

Sexual violence affects each and every one of us, regardless of whether we directly know a victim/survivor of rape, molestation, child sexual abuse, or sexual harassment. Living in a sexually violent world results in fear, hatred, mistrust, and an overall social environment of injustice and inequality. Only by working together can we create a world free from all types of violence.

Can men participate in Take Back the Night events?

Absolutely. Sexual violence is not a female problem, and it's not a male problem; sexual violence is everybody's problem! Male participants in anti-sexual violence events are crucial to the success of these events; the SAVE network strives to educate all people about the myths and facts of sexual violence. The TBTN planning committee embraces diversity and acknowledges that sexual equality and a peaceful society will never be realized if all sexes do not take part in the battle against sexual violence.

What if I have classes during the TBTN events?

The TBTN planning committee is working closely with faculty to encourage student participation. Check with your professor to see if you can negotiate an excused absence for attending our events; some professors may even give you extra credit to attend. Upon request, we will provide you with a form for your professor(s) verifying that you attended our event(s).
